Does the ABIT KD-7 Raid motherboard have a SATA port or a port compatible with a sata adapter?

It has no SATA ports and a AGP slot. It does not have any PCI-E slots so you would have to use a PCI SATA adapter. It is a rather old motherboard.

you should be able to buy a sata port adaptor that plugs into a pci slot but that might limit its speed.

No, your KT400 based motherboard is far to old to support SATA.

IMO if you are to the point where you are spending any cash on this system, you should save a little more and upgrade.
For around $130 you can get a fairly current motherboard, CPU and RAM from newegg.
