Hi,

I have finally decided to decomission my old pc and plug all 4 monitors into one pc. Don't need SLi or anything, just the desktop.

I got a ga-n650sli-ds4l motherboard. a 9600 and an 8600.

this is what the manual says
Link to manual: http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/Manual_Model.aspx?ProductID=2679#anchor_os

Normal Mode (Pins 2-3 Close, Default Setting):
By default, the two PCIe x16 slots are set to Normal Mode, in which the PCIE_16_1 slot operates at u
to x16 but the PCIE_16_2 slot is unavailable.
All the jumper caps on the SLI configuration jumpers (NV_SLI1, NV_SLI2, NV_SLI3, NV_SLI4, NV_SLI5
NV_SLI6, and JP1) are placed on pins 2-3, as shown in the illustration above.

SLI Mode (Pins 1-2 Close):
In SLI Mode, you may use the two PCIe
x16 slots for the following functions:
1. SLI Configuration: Install two SLI-
capable PCIe x16 graphics cards of the
same model to enable SLI functionality.
2. Independent PCI x8 slots: Use the two
PCIe x16 slots as two independent PCIe
x8 slots.

To enable SLI mode, all the jumper caps on the SLI configuration jumpers should be placed on pins
1-2 as shown in the illustration to the upper-right

i first just plugged in the second video card, but windows didn't recognize it (winxp64 sp2)

So i switch all the jumpers (very annoying procedure) and now only the second card is seen (8600GT).

I installed nvidia drivers for it.

anyone have any idea what might be causing this?

Cheers.

yeah, i don't need SLI i just need the multi monitors. but for some reason the board only recognizes only one card at a time.
