I need help installing ati 4870, I never had problem before but I do wont to end up with black screen
What steps I need to take to install 4870 If I remove my old cards 8600 and place ati the screen is black and if I want to install drives for ati its says that the product was not found, so how can i nstall ati drives if I cant start my computer with 4870
1) Download (but do not install yet) the latest ATI drivers
2) Un-Install the old nVidia drivers
3) Turn off the system and swap the GPUs. Make sure and plug the PCIe power plugs into the new 4870
4) Boot into windows and install the ATI drivers
5) Reboot when prompted and enjoy your new card.
If you are saying that your machine will not boot with the 4870 already installed (sorry, could not tell by reading), post your full system specs including any overclocks and your PSUs brand, wattage and +12v amperage.

@ Morfinel: Have you connected BOTH 6-pin leads to the ATI card? It must have both connected to work. If your PSU has only one there should be a molex/PCI-E converter in the box the card came in.
If you have uninstalled the Nvidia drivers the 8600 will only display 640x480x4bit because that is the default `emergency`display of Windows itself and you have done nothing wrong.
I have updated Bios. Connected new ati 4870 to both pci-e slots, I always connect 6 pin x2 leads and there is still no output to monitor I have contacted ati and they said to update bios and try other pci-e slot, monitor still don't work. I had 640x480 because I have geforce in sli and when I was trying 4870 then I connected only 1, would uninstalling geforce drives would change any thing ??
