I just put a fresh install of Windows XP on my computer and now it wont recognize the hard drive or the DVD drive. This has happened a few times before, but never with the DVD drive.

Also, it take about 10 minutes for the BIOS to run until I get an unable to read hard drive error. It tells me to enter my system disc (or something like that) and press enter. The disc is in there, but it doesn't know because it's not on. I can't even get the disc out of there.

What should I do? Do I need a new mother board?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

Your fresh install may be messing with your BIOS. Try reinstalling XP again. If that doesn't help set your HDD to master with the jumper pins next to the connections on the back end. Then set the 1 on the DVD to Slave. Most are pre-set to Cable Select. You should see the instuctions on top of the harddrive as for the pin placements and the DVD should be labeled on the back end.
