its saying the speed, other words, it requires DDR3 (cuz of the i7) and it dose ram that's 1600 MHz and up

that and keep in minde, because its x58, its using the on-board memory controller on the i7, so it requires compatible memory, so it must be tripple channel, meaning u need to have ram dimms that r in multiples of 3, so 3, 6, or 12 ram dimms installed on the motherboard

Alright, so does that mean I can use DDR3 2000 and will I benefit from having DDR3 2000 with a small overclock on i7 920 at 3.66ghz ?

well, if ur asking if the memory speed will effect the speed of ur CPU's overclock, im not sure, but i don't think so, what i can tell u is that the motherboard ur looking at is a great one and dose a good job with overclocking, and go for DDR3 2000 if u must, but u'd be still get great performance with 1600 (that and u could overclock the ram a bit) , the only thing i can tell u for sure, is when u overclock the CPU there is a max voltage u should not go over (as recommended by intel for the i7) i forget what it is, but u would not need to go over that voltage on a i7 cuz it will still give u a outstanding overclock compared to core 2's at that voltage

1.375 on the maximum voltage portion I believe. What will benefit from having the DDR3 2000 ? Is it worth the upgrade ?

well, just DDR3 is good, do u really need that 400 MHz is the question, and I would have to say, go for it if u want, but u don't need to spend that Extra money if u don't want, u will still get great proformance with 1600 MHz, that and u can always overclock ur ram a bit

HI Can any one advise which mem brands are compatible with the EVGA classified, in terms of 6g {(3x2g) 1600 1866 2000} or 12g {(4x3g) 1600 1866 2000) the mem QVL at EVGA looks as if it is old info

Pretty much any DDR3 rated at 1.65V or less should work just fine.

As for DDR3-2000, it's honestly a waste of money unless you know for a fact that you will be memory limited in your apps. In almost any case, there will be no difference between 1600 and 2000.

i7 965 @ 4.2GHz (200*21), 1.384V
