I want to upgrade my system to the following:

I'm pretty much looking to upgrade to the P6T Deluxe V2 with a Core i7 920 and installing CORSAIR DOMINATOR 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Memory - Model #: TR3X3G1600C8D.

I already have a GPU, EVGA 8800 GTS using Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I have thought of upgrading to Vista Ultimate 64 bit, which I have but have not installed do to the lack of 64 bit support.

You could say I'm kind of building for the future.

I DO NOT OVERCLOCK!!!! It's bad on the components, lessens the life of them. Kinda like you driving 85MPH in an ice storm.

Also, if the OC'ing happens because I put faster memory modules in than that would be the only type of OC'ing that there would be, as I understand putting a faster memory module in your system is technically considered overclocking, if I understood correctly.

If this setup is not a good setup could you please make some suggestions. I would like to stay with ASUS as the motherboard but don't have to. I'm not partial to Intel I will use AMD. I would prefer a stable quad core setup.

Any input or comments would be greatly appreciated. I want to upgrade to something that will not be say, out of date, discontinued, no longer supported in the next 4-6 months.

I use Vista 64 on two laptops and a desktop and have yet to run into any driver issues. Ultimate is pretty much a waste of money ...look at Vista Home Premium for a cheaper price. If your going to build an i7 rig do it right, and use 3x2 gigs of ram, and not 3x1. Here's a few ways to knock off some off the price of your build and still have quality components/ fast ram, etc...

btw, overclocking your rig only shortens the lifespan if it isn't done correctly. Usually high heat is to blame for it because people clocked to high or used crap cooling components or both.
