What do you think of overclocking a cheap amd?

My machine has ran fine, but after getting the feel of it, i realize my CPU is a bottleneck. Ive ordered a new quad core phenom II but that wont come in for a while so what do you think about overclocking my AMD Athlon II x2 @2.7 (235e) to a respectable 3.0ghz? Im just trying to get the most out of it as i can.

Also, is there a way to overclock a cpu on a mobo that doesnt have overclocking on it? In my bios, there is a option for adjusting frequency but it doesnt show anything in it. How would i go about overclock it?

I think it would save you money if you melt it down, but with no BIOS control for doing so, that won't happen either.
