My buddy needed a new card so I recommended him to get a 4850. He's had it for a few weeks now and today his computer started turning off while in game. I'm starting to wonder if his power supply can handle the load of the card.

specs:
e4400 @stock
intel mobo
4850 @stock
2g ram
400W thermaltake 8021

I'm pretty sure 400 watts is more than enough to drive his system but I couldn't find the specs of the ps anywhere online. He checked the back and the ratings are 115V/230V 8A/5A 50-60Hz. Does it deliver enough current for the card? or can this problem be caused by something else?

Thanks a lot for any replies.

That PSU doesn't have enough power to run a 4850. The 4850 needs a high quality 450W PSU with a high 12v amp rating. I would suggest something like this:

CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX 450W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Compatible with Core i7 Power Supply - Retail
