External HDD ac cable broken

Hi, I have an external HDD (Freecom) and the cable from the power ac adaptor is broken so I need a new one. I went to my local pc hardware store and the guy there had a similar cable but the amperes (A) were different. The original cable had a 0.8 A rating and the new one is 1.0 A.
Is it ok to use this cable?

Thanks in advance.

  1. Should be fine. Good luck!
  2. BTW, is it just a cable we are talking about or an external power supply? If an external power supply, you have to make sure the connector polarity is the same as your broken one was.
