I.m building a new system mainly for flight simming amd photography. I love power and speed.I'm looking at the gigabyte ep45motherboard,however which memory is truly better. I have heard that ddr3 is a waste of money and that i should invest my money in larger amounts of ddr2 please help me out

trex01 here forgot to say im using intel quad core as a processorto the gigabyte ep45 board

As far as I know the EP-45 uses DDR2 only, maxing out at 1366Mhz...

There are several different ep45 motherboards, so Im not so sure which one you have....

The only CPU out there right now that really takes advantage of DDR3 is the Core i7. The Socket 775 CPU's work better overall with DDR2. Every benchmark I saw there was maybe a 2% advantage with DDR3 over DDR2.

Im planning on using the i7 so I guess the ddr3 is the best thanks for the help. The next will the best motherboard for this wonderful :bounce: collection of electronic parts. I'm really greatfull for every ones help it's all coming togeather slowly this is the greatest sight ever thanks in advance trex01
