GeForce 260 Sound Issues

Last response: in Graphics & Displays

I have been trying to get my GeForce 260 to run for 3 days now. EVGA and Asus keep pushing me off to the other. I can get the card to run but I can not get any sound from it, either thru an HDMI cable or thru a SPDF connection. I have downloaded Realtek drivers but that hasn't helped either.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Just use the standard analog connections to the mobo; i still don't see the point of trying to route sound through a GFX card, especially considering SPdifs issues beyond 2.0 sound...

I have tried doing that. As long as the mobo recognizes the card it will no allow sound thru analog connection. There is a Spdf out on the mobo that Nvidia says to hookup but Asus says different. Either way it is connected, it still won't produce sound.

Whats the default sound output device in the Control Panel?

If you hook the sound through the SPDIF you need to select as playback device from the control panel "SOUND" option. The audio will divert the output to the SPDIF port. That should enable you to get the sound through the video card.
