I have a Dell XPS 410 and am having trouble getting it to boot up. It makes a buzzing sound and light of the back of unit flashes on and off. If the PC is left off for a period of time (over night) it will power up sometime. I was told that the motherboard was bad. Any suggestions?

Does the same thing happen if, instead of waiting overnight, you simply unplug the PSU for a few seconds, reconnect the cord, and try to boot? If it does, you likely have a PSU problem, not a motherboard problem.

Maybe a bad power switch?

Try shorting the two pins for the power button with a screwdriver and see if the problems goes away.
