XFX 790i Ultra + CORE 2 DUO 6600 any good?

My friend is selling a bundle of XFX 790i Ultra motherboard with INTEL CORE 2 DUO 6600 processor.
So, i have few questions regarding this:

1. is it any good and worth buying ( i am building med spec pc)?
2 The motherboard is missing heatsink and fan, any suggestions which should i get if i will decide to buy this whole thing?

He is looking for around £150 for it but i can get this price down or is it way too high?

  1. In the UK?

    Pass....
  2. yea uk.

well in UK pc things are more expensive than in USA and only mobo costs £200+ :D
  3. Here in Obama States of Anothermerica the MB is $155.00

  4. You will have to purchase a HSF. That brings it up closer to $300. US
It is not worth it in my opinion.

I dont know anything about shopping in UK but look here:

For $50.00 more you get new stuff with warranty.

Would it be possible if you linked the store your going to order from? Its very hard to make a recommendation if we don't have other MB/combo prices that we can base our decisions on.
  6. I'd pass as well. I feel like for a similar price you could get new equipment that will perform as well and still be warrantied.

Here is one of the cheapest i was ablet to find at the moment:

    Mobo: http://www.kikatek.com/product_info.php?products_id=78686
    CPU: http://www.kikatek.com/product_info.php?products_id=18866

So, as you can see they are very expensive compared to the USA.
  8. I guess the next question is, do you need the 790i, or could you get by with a different solution?

What are your plans for the new/used hardware?
  9. I am planning to build a mid range pc, mainly for photoshop and internet, so i started looking at the components available and decided to start from the mobo and cpu. The most improtant things, i guess , will be good graphic card (-s) and decent RAM.

This combo looks that ok, and the price is not sky high compared to buying separately.
    What you recon?
