My friend is selling a bundle of XFX 790i Ultra motherboard with INTEL CORE 2 DUO 6600 processor.
So, i have few questions regarding this:

1. is it any good and worth buying ( i am building med spec pc)?
2 The motherboard is missing heatsink and fan, any suggestions which should i get if i will decide to buy this whole thing?

He is looking for around £150 for it but i can get this price down or is it way too high?

You will have to purchase a HSF. That brings it up closer to $300. US
It is not worth it in my opinion.

I dont know anything about shopping in UK but look here:

For $50.00 more you get new stuff with warranty.

Would it be possible if you linked the store your going to order from? Its very hard to make a recommendation if we don't have other MB/combo prices that we can base our decisions on.

I'd pass as well. I feel like for a similar price you could get new equipment that will perform as well and still be warrantied.

Here is one of the cheapest i was ablet to find at the moment:

Mobo: http://www.kikatek.com/product_inf [...] s_id=78686
CPU: http://www.kikatek.com/product_inf [...] s_id=18866

So, as you can see they are very expensive compared to the USA.

I guess the next question is, do you need the 790i, or could you get by with a different solution?

What are your plans for the new/used hardware?

I am planning to build a mid range pc, mainly for photoshop and internet, so i started looking at the components available and decided to start from the mobo and cpu. The most improtant things, i guess , will be good graphic card (-s) and decent RAM.

This combo looks that ok, and the price is not sky high compared to buying separately.
What you recon?
