I was advised that gigabyte has better quality in its construction.

First, i'm building a new box running i7 2.66GHz.
Therefore i'm considering between these two motherboard, which i'm open to more better suggestions for money worth or quality.
And i'm also considering to overclock mainly the processor.

ASUS P6T6 revo
Gigabyte GA-EX58 Extreme

Which of those are more stable and cooler for overclocking processor

I prefer Gigabyte, but that's mostly exactly what I say it is - a preference.

I also have heard that Gigabyte quality control is a little better. But I think that it is mostly anecdotal evidence.

I have heard the same thing about Asus motherboards also.

Go with features, including board layout, and price.

Gigabyte definitely, although that is based on my previous experience with asus products rather than the details of those motherboards. I just posted about this problem, but every asus branded product I've owned has ultimately developed hardware problems. I have had fans sieze up on motherboards and a graphics card with the asus brand, and had a netbook with an annoying whine. Again, all anecdotal, and I'm sure you will find people out there with bad gigabyte stories, but since my problems happened 4 separate times across their product lines I suspect the rumors are true there are big quality control problems at Asus

Amen to that.

Gigabyte and Asus are two major players, both make superb boards and both have problems. Look at their respective sections in this forum, you will find all sorts of issues across their whole product lines. Its unavoidable, but I guarantee its mostly down to poor handling once their products left the factories. Ive been an asus user for years(preference) and nothing serious enough to change my mind has occured yet.
