I bought Viper II DDR3 1600 4gb (2x2Gb) Cas 7.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
I upgraded from Viper DDR2 1066 4Gb (2x2Gb) Cas 5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

my old board was an ECS GF8100 and my new board is a Gigabyte 870a-ud3.

I have my ram set to all the right settings and have confirmed these settings in cpu-z.

I feel though like my system isn't as snappy as it used to be, even though im running better ram and a much better motherboard.\
I would like some help with setting my ram to the optimal settings. I want to know what will give me the snappiest ram in win 7.

1. I have seen some ppl run their 1600 at 1333 for better timings, is this a good idea?

2. because I went from Cas 5 RAM to Cas 7 could that be y i dont feel like its as snappy?

3. when overclocking the RAM is there a way to tell if im putting to much volts into it? (i.e. for the cpu I can monitor its temp, but i kno of no sensor for the RAM)

4. Should I try overclocking my 1600 to lower timings or go to 1333 for lower timings?

5. what windows index scores in win 7 hav other ppl received for DDR3 1600 cas 7 or even fast 1333? (Im getting 7.6 is that normal/good?)

I think thats about it. thanks for any replies!

Normally you will not actually see or feel any performance improvement by installing faster RAM and a new mobo.

You may get better benchmarks though.

FYI, I'm running 1333 at 9-9-9-24 and getting 7.5 in Win7 using an i5 750.

I think I figured out y stuff is slower though, my video drivers were really old because i was trying something and when I installed the latest things seem to run smoother.

Are you running it at 1333 because thts wat u bought or b/c you set it to 1333 from 1600?

It will run 1333 8-8-8-27. Mobo reverted to standard settings after undoing an overclock I didn't need lol. Goes to show how noticeable these things are :)

I prefer to overclock my memory through DCT Tuner. This Thaiphoon Burner's tool supports all newst AMD64 processors with DDR2 and DDR3 IMCs. It is absolutely free, save and powerfull. Besides, the Log tab can help you to find the timings that cause your system to freeze.
