Hello everyone, just a quick question, have any of you had one of these PSU go pop, Ive just had one go with two immense bangs directly after eachother, and found after inspection the Two large capacitatior blown as well as the transformer blown. reason why is now I need to replace it (Luckily had a spare cheap 650w to test nothing else had been taken with it which cross fingers all seems well)

The thing is I have this exact power supply in my second system and now doubt it seriously!

Was not drawing too much I think lol, 7200 @3.8GHZ, 4X1GB Crucial tracer 1066, hd4870 @850/1100, a few Hdd and xf-i card, couple of DVD and around 12 fans ( doubled up as a world domination control center and winter heating appliance).

Would be nice to know who else has had a PSU go pop and the draw and make of the PSU

Always go for a well known brand. If in doubt ask.
Corsair, seasonic, pc power and cooling etc.

That's what happens with crappy psu. Lesson learned, hopefully. I'd replace the other one asap.

Yup, after a bit of research, they are not the most efficiant power supplies on the market, think with the OC and 4870 it was on the limits to be fair, going for a great corsair 700w ive seen on special offer, will get two to replace the second system one at the same time, only 500wfor the second as the second rig does not need that much juice.

Lesson learned not to skimp on PSU (Although it was not exactly cheap at the time but I kinda knew they only had a limited life) but at least I got to hear the amazing pop as it went, the dogs nearly bit the pc when it did this, they were like, what the heck was that, get it get it!!!!1
