Hi,
It is my first to build a computer myself.
I bought a AM3 mobo and Phenom II 720.
I am trying to install this heatsink:

Sunbeam CR-CCTF 120 mm Core-Contact Freezer CPU Cooler W/TX-2
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6835207004

I was told that heatsinks for AM2 will work on AM3 boards, but when I followed the manual, I had this problem. The two mounting clips of the heatsink are not long enough to reach the retention brackets on the board.
Here is the pictures:

Please look at the circled area.

I think if I use force to push both mounting clips really hard, I can still make them reach the retention brackets, but I'm afraid that might hurt the CPU and the plastic retention brackets on the board will break.

Please give me some help, thank you!

Put the motherboard a flat hard surface and push it down very hard with a flat head screw driver in the slot provided on the clip. Yes, a large amount of force is required.
