I just bought a new boxed Q8200 for $105 and hoping to build a pc for my business.

What I want to know which motherboard and memory are people with Q8200 using to oc this entry level quad process to reach 3 GHz?

I am thinking of buying a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR (P45/ICH10R) and OCZ Platinum 4GB DDR3 1600 memory kit .

Other components I will be purchasing.

Xigmatek S1283 DK.

Antec Sonata Plus 550 case/psu combo

HIS 4850 512MB GPU

Good 4GB DDR2 1066 memory kit sells for $60~70. OCZ Platinum DDR3 kit are only $65. And EP45T(DDR3 version) and EP45- UD3LR(DDR2 version) cost about the same.

But you get a gig less ram. might not be a huge deal but worth considering. also when talking about affordable 8GB of ddr2 > 6GB of DDR3. Unless of course you spend a whole lot on ram to get the 12GB of ddr3.

He has failed to explain the difference between the memory controllers for i7 - triple channel. Doesn't apply here anyway.

Get 2 X 2 sticks of DDR2 ... any cheap stuff will do.

An 8200 doesn't need the good stuff.
