I've been having a really crazy problem with my computer as of late. It started about 3 weeks ago maybe more. Basically I noticed it started taking A LOT longer to bootup. Like the windows xp splash screen would take 5 minutes before I would actually see a login prompt. Then probably another minute or 2 before I can do anything in windows. When I would listen to music or watch videos online (youtube tc) the sound is WAY choppy and distorted. It's rare that I can listen to a whole song without a hiccup.

Well, the last week or so I've been getting random reboots and blue screens. driver irq not greater equal etc. but then it says viahduaa.sys

clearly the audio driver.

I called asus they said memory issue. I ran memtest86 and there were no errors with the memory. I swapped out the memory and same problem.

I called asus again, they said cpu/memory controller. I swapped out the cpu (new cpu same model) same problem.

Called asus again still insisting its a memory problem saying asus is picky about memory... why would it take 3 or 4 months for this problem to manifest then???

My call was escalated where they recommended uninstalling the audio driver and reinstalling. They finally recommended removing any other devices (the only non mobo item I have is a pci modem) and reformatting/reinstalling.

So I did actually check the OCZ website
http://memoryselector.cnetchannel. [...] _id=697992

And it says no memory available for this product. Could that really be my problem?

I have 5 computers I built in my office 2 of the same mobo all the others are the same processor and memory:all winxp, all asus mobos, all amd 6400+, all OCZ 1gbx2, all have the same pci modem).

mine is the only one that crashes and has blue screens.

I am unbelievably frustrated. I am trouble shooting my ass off but patience is wearing thin because of the amount of time it takes to reboot not to mention the chance that I could get an instant blue screen when I boot up. I'm close to buying memory from Crucial to trouble shoot one more time.

It just seems ridiculous to me that it would be a memory issue even though the blue screen says audio driver.

Mobo=M3A78-CM
Memory=OCZ PC2 6400
