For a year now I have been always browsing Tomshardware and just now decided to make a forum account.

I am looking to build a new computer soon and I would really appreciate it if you could just check over my list and make sure I am not buying something that is not compatible with another part and parts that are Overpriced. (Note: All prices are in Canadian so prices are going to be substantially more compared to US).

My budget is $3000 plus or minus a few hundred bucks
*Note I am only 14, so I ain't a genius with a computer and don't have alot of building experience.
The build is mainly for watching HD movies and playing games maybe some video rendering and little animation. I want this computer to last for around 4-5 years. (2-3 years for gaming)

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Corsair says it's enough.
If you feel the need to lay out a bit more, there's the Enermax Revolution 1050W, which has some glowing reviews, but it's hard to find and a bit more expensive.

If that's going to be your only drive to start, just RAID a couple Caviar Blacks. Save money, start with more storage.

your choice of the evga motherboard is good. you will find better support and a great forum at evga. I have one, (X58) quite happy with it. have checked its benchmarks with everest 5, it leads some tests to the asus p6t, and trails some of the same. overall, it is a very good mb. look into the razer death adder mouse, it's a great gaming mouse if thats what you're into.

With
This ram:
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227381

I save around $100 so my total is still $3299.99 So I need some more suggestions to cut the price to around $3000.
Thanks
I also decided to keep with the EVGA board because its ratings are good and it comes with some software for overclocking.

Should I get a different graphics card? As that is costs $600+ and probably $700+ with tax.

I want to get a high end card but money is also a big thing I can not exceed my budget by alot.

Next i'd chop down on the hard drive. This guy is very very close to the speeds of the raptor drives. Consider the extra space a bonus. Knocks ya down another ~$125
WD 640 Black

You might want to see if you can find some combo deals on some items. Newegg ussualy runs some great combo deals on some of the items you've got in your rig.

Impressive build. I have no idea about the headset, but the rest are fine choices.

@Shadow703793: he's talking about two GTX 295 cards, not just one. A 650TX can handle one such card, but using it with two is scary IMO. It would also need adapters because that setup needs 4 PCI-E connectors. For what it's worth, nVidia has certified 3 PSUs for GTX 295 dual-SLI so far, and they are all rated 1200W.
http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html
I'm sure the 1000HX would do here, but I wouldn't bet on the 650TX.

So, you want to cut the price a bit...

Cheaper case (RC-690)

Cheaper HDD (WD6401AALS)

Cheaper mouse and keyboard (spend $15 on each; ask your relatives to buy you nicer stuff later for birthdays or whatever)

Don't buy an aftermarket cooler (you don't need it unless you overclock, and you don't really need to overclock that CPU just to play games; plus, you can also add the cooler later).

Cheaper PSU ($30 less)

Just a few things. If you do need for space, this is your best bet. http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152102

And you may want to consider a 64GB SSD along side that one above, instead of a velocirapter.

2) An Antec 902 should be fine.
3) MOBO: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128362 (more reliable) or if possible: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128361

And as for a great bank for buck GPU, get this: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130441

Since all the heavy hitters have weighed in on the hardware, let me toss my two cents on your headset.

The Gamecom are a good way to go. Try and find a 777 on sale though--the simulated dolby is great if you are trying to game.

I know a few who swear by them--probably worth the extra 15$ or so

Oh lol, yes, a 650TX wouldn't do for a GTX295 SLI set up.

And as for the Corsair 1000CX. It's max output is 1246.1W(W=A*V).

At this point like said above if your really set on bringing your price down past $3000, i'd cut the mouse and keyboard. I'd buy some cheapo generic brand and wait till you can upgrade those parts. That would put you pretty close to your target. Another thing you could look at is the case. Maybe try finding a good antec or coolmaster mid size case instead of the full tower. Other than that I'm not sure if i'd change much of anything at this point. I think you'd really start cutting into your preformance if you did.

I was in the same boat as you for the case, if you care about airflow and don't care about the black colour inside your case then go for the NZXT TEMPEST

http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/182844/NZXT/Tempest/ I price matched it with for 125.40

You can also go for Cooler Master 690, it's cheaper but comes with less fan and no side window. So if you are planning on getting extra fans and the side window it will cost pretty much same as that tempest.

Probally just because its the latest and greatest. I really don't think its worth the price hike up. That's why i still stay with the antec 900 recommendation.

Major differences that i could find, the verison two is a tad bit wider(+.5") and taller(+.2"). It also has an extra expasion slot.
