Ram upgrade help!

Well... I have this laptop:

HP Pavillion DV4-1412la

It has exactly those specs, my doubt is: It comes with one PC6400 DDR2 2GB ram Stick, and a free slot, I i have another 2gb ram Stick from another laptop (HP Pavillion DV6627nr) wich unfortunately died, even tho this memory is DDR2, the doubt comes because this ram is a PC5300, i know its compatbile and all, but is there any inconvenience in putting both together in this new computer?

Installing the 2 GB DIMM of PC25300 667Mhz. will cause the existing PC26400 800Mhz. module to run at the slower speed of the two (667MHz. default). That's if the two are indeed able to perform together.

You may have an issue if the mb can't run at the lower speed. When two different speeds are installed both sticks will run at the lower speed.

I am aware that both will run at 667mhz, but my question is that it shouldn't, at ALL harm my computer, right?

No, your computer requires DDR2. It's a matter the two different DIMMs being compatible together, stable within the system.

Well... this is weird, i installed both 2gb sticks and had a total of 4gb ram, but my windows 7 says i can only use 2.75 of them and i thought that it was because o fthe 4gb limit on 32bit, so i took out the 2gb 667mhz and instaled a one 1gb 667mhz from my moms laptop, and it still says that i can only use 2.75gb out of 3, any ideas for that?

EDIT, i did test all the configurations winth the Win7 points system,

4gb (2.75usable) ddr2 800 & 667mhz gives a score of 5.5
2gb ddr2 800mhz gives a score of 4.9
and... at last and worst 3gb (2.75 usable) ddr2 800 and 667mhz gives a score of... 4.9

what version is that build. There was supposed to be a starter version of win7 that only supported limited ram
