Can\'t Restore my DVD Reader/Writer

My DVD icon is missing from my computer -- had a virus last month which opened and closed the box continuously -- removed that -- but now the icon and function are missing -- HELP??

Probably need to do a Repair setup of Windows, once a virus does it's damage, removing it won't bring things back to normal.

Have you tried to reseat the drive connection cables to make sure it's seen by the system? Does it show up in the BIOS but not in Windows?
