i have a network of 5 XP machines connected to a windows 2003 server, i use a shared folder in which multiple people work. Some of the files got disappeared when from one of a machine deleted/moved it. I have even checked the machine from where the files are deleted or moved and even the source machine at which the shared folder is there. I have neither found the deleted files in any of these machines recyclebin or any other drive. I have lost important data. Please help me out.

Thanks in advance..

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

I would expect to find them in the Recycle Bin of the machine from which they were deleted but if that deletion wasn't accidental, it may be they were removed from Recycing as well.

Go to http://www.piriform.com and download Recuva which is a free and quite effective piece of undeleting software and also http://www.win-freeware.com/REST2514.htm and download Restoration 2514 - also free and pretty good.

It's best to restore anything either utility finds to a different drive and folder to their original places.

Definitively I recommend Recuva, it saved me a couple of times, to make the recover more effective when do the recover procedure select as files destination another hard drive. Good luck.
