I just ordered a 13" Mac Book Pro with a 500 gig hard drive. I want to purchase a new external drive to use with Time Machine (I currently have a 320 gb Lacie Little Disk which will be my backup backup) and have narrowed it down to:

LaCie Hard Disk Quadra 1TB and the Iomega eGo 1TB Mac Edition.

Does anyone have a clear preference between these two drives? As silly as it sounds, I like the fact that the Iomega matches the Mac.

I have a LaCie and I am not a fan. I have had issue with several of them. I have not tried the Iomega but I will in the future.

I have 5 LaCies and they have been OK. Not great, just OK. None have failed outright, but I hardly ever use them besides dropping files into them. One however, makes such unnerving clicking noises that I have been afraid to put anything on it. I personally don't have an Iomega, but a family member has one that outlasted the two computers in was attached to. It's still working too.
