I have an HP a6700y computer with wi-fi , which I will never use. In every review of this product it is claimed that the wi-fi slows the computer a lot.
Can I just remove the wi-fi board and gain some speed , or is there more to it then that ?

I'm not sure how the wifi would slow it down...

A buggy driver or one of their bloated WiFi software might cause that, but still unlikely.
The reviewers are just being incompetent that's all.

Well, it's probably referring to the internet speed, in which case.....using an ethernet connection instead of wireless would be a lot faster. But you won't see a huge difference if all your doing is web surfing and minor downloads. (Under 100MB for the most part)
