If i have 2000mhz DDR3 memory but the processor is only 1333mhz, does that mean the memory can only run at 2000mhz? The core i7 only goes to 1333mhz and i thought this was a processor.

surda: what on earth are you talking about? The slowest i7 is 2667 MHz. The question is because the highest officially rated memory speed on an i7 is 1333.

As for whether it will work? It should, but the memory controller will be overvolted (sometimes by a lot) to run at 2000, since it isn't rated for that speed. It shouldn't cause problems though.

Why would you use DDR3-2000 though? It's very expensive for very little benefit. DDR3-1600 seems to be the sweet spot right now, since anything faster tends to be quite a bit more expensive, but the pricing on 1600 isn't bad.
