Error converting WMV file while trying to sync to iPAQ

Hi, all:

I'm using Windows Media Player to sync music etc. to my HP iPAQ h1945
(latest versions of WMP and Windows Mobile and the WMP on Windows Mobile).
When I try to sync a small video clip (.wmv) to the iPAQ, I get the following
error:

"Windows Media Player cannot convert the file to the format required by the
device."

Anything special I have to do? In the options for the device (although the
options for selecting video/TV quality are dimmed out and not available for
some reason), I have it set to automatically select quality level, and have
plenty of space on my storage card.

This used to work just fine -- what gives?
