i want to upgrade my notebook, it is a HP DV1659US, i just got it so i dont know much about the specs, all i kno is that it has 1gb ddr2 533mhz ram, i want to put in 2gb but was wondering how to find out the highest speed, i believe my motherboard supports 533, 667 and 800fsb, so does that mean i can go up to 800mhz ram? my cpu is core duo 1.66ghz w/667mhz fsb, i want to put in an 800mhz fsb cpu later on, main issue is the ram, any help would be great

the only specs i can find are here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00614755&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=nz&lang=en&product=1843695

long term i want to max out the notebook complete with 500gb hdd and so on, also how do i find out what the max ram i can put in, i know with my current cpu it does not support 64bit configuration, i want to put in 4gb with a 64bit os (once i get the new cpu), how do i find out if i can even put 4gb in it?

Go to the Crucial ( www.crucial.com )website, you can put in your make model and they will show what speeds and size that will work in that laptop.

You do not have to purchase the RAM from them, but that will tell you the size and speed.

I put DDR2-800 in my Toshiba laptop but it only runs at 667 because it supports DDR2-533/667 only.
