:bounce: I have an AMD system that has been idle for six months. I plugged it in yesterday and nothing happened including the fans not !omputer, nothing happened including the fans not running.

The system is not overclocked and was running six months ago. I moved and did not get around to booting it up until yesterday.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would check all the cables and connections since you've moved the system. Maybe a cable came loose during the move. I'd be sure to check the front panel connections. Here's a checklist for further troubleshooting if you need it:

Thanks for the reply. I have checked the cables and do not see anything loose. What bothers me is that none of the case fans are running

If none of the case fans are running, they hook into the motherboard which could be a faulty motherboard. Also, the back of the psu should be a switch idk if that has been touched, also, the main power connector from your wall to your psu. make sure its not a bad wire.

Well your new antec PSU should have come with a new power cord to plug into it so make sure you are using the new one. Since none of your case fans are comming on or anything though I'd think that it was a dead motherboard. Before you go chucking the motherboard though check your power on connector. It could simply be that it came loose, or that the power button on your case no long works. You can use a jumper or small screw driver to touch the two wires for power to see if your system turns on that way. of course it's best to use a spare switch that you know works, if you have one, which not too many people do :D.

??? did you fix it, or is it still INOP

If all your case fans are plugged in to the mb, remove one and attach a 2/3 pin fan connector to molex and connect directly into the PSU. I know you verified the AC outlet is good by plugging a lamp in to it. You have resetted the cards, memory, and connectors.

PS: Talk about a computer sitting around, I had to check one that had been sitting for 4 years - Booted up fine. This week I had to check out a system with two computers running WINDOWS 3.11 and both had a SCSI 2 Gig HDD. PC1 would only get to the point of Showing the HDD. Reseated all cards and connectors (to remove any oxidation buildup - Flight hardened so no loose ones) and gave the HDD a "calibrated " tap and she came right up.
