Connection dropouts in Windows 7

I've just installed Windows 7 on a new computer, and put in a wireless USB antenna, which connects to my home network (both D-Link). Windows sees my home network, but when I click connect, it says 'connecting' then does for an instant before dropping out. I know this isn't a range thing, because I was somehow able to connect for a long period of time by just repeatedly trying connect, however even that no longer works.
