hey guys

i think i might have pin point the problem. i think is my power supply not giving enough power

here is my specs first:

phenom II x4 955
asus m4a78t-e
two radeon 4850 crossfired with one bridge
4ghz ram
heat sink and fan
5 x 120mm led fans
1 x 200mm fan no led
antec 650w earthwatt

so the problem. my computer freezes in different time during game play (team fortress 2 and left 4 dead). i have done a stress test on the video card for more than 30min no problem there. done all my updates (bios, video card, directx). played tf2 in window mode with everything set to low setting and after 30min no freezes. and i tried two out some of the fans (2 of them) and it lasted a little bit longer.

so i think it is the power supply that is not enough for my set up

let me know what you think thanks!!!

have you set up the RAM to manufacturer specifications in BIOS including voltage, speed and tinings. PC2 6400 defaults to 1.8v in BIOS. Your RAM may require more voltage to run stable. Bump the voltage up to specs in BIOS. RAM is often the cause of system freeze up when running software (games). Your PSU would be adequate even when your system is calling for full load of the unit.

If you go to OCZ's website u can search for the type of ram u have and it will list the specs for it i.e voltage, timings, ect. then u have to open up your bios and manually put in the info. I am using the ddr2 ocz platinum which requires 2.1v so i had to change that. i left my timings to auto and i haven't had a problem with it yet and its going on 6 months.

I looks like your voltage should be set to 1.9v and the timing is 7-7-7-24. If you haven't already you should download CPU-Z which will show u your voltage and timings your motherboard is defaulting to in auto. hope this helps

so what i did was i went to bios and changed my voltage but didn't change my timings and i could start my computer...does that mean it can't handle 1.9v???

so i tried to setting it to 1.85v and timing to 7-7-7-24 and the system craps out right away. Could this mean PSU is not enough power?

does anyone know if my 650w psu is enough to run my system? or is it tight?

I'm using the same PSU as you are and I've never had a problem with it and it's powering:
Antec 1200 case
phenom II 955
1 HDD
ati 4870 1gig
8 gigs of ram @ 800mhz

i just found out that my ram was not running at the factory setting....so i just changed it...maybe it is b/c of that???

my ram was running at 533mhz with 1.6v and factory setting is at 1.9v 800mhz
