AMD/Gigabyte vs. Intel/Asus combo - which is better bang for the buck? Tags: New Build AMD Gigabyte Systems Last response: March 14, 2009 3:33 PM in Systems Share MathWiz579 March 13, 2009 4:10:39 AM Almost finished building my system. I see the following two CPU/mobo combos on Newegg: AMD Phenom II X4 940 Deneb 3.0GHz/GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H - $308 (Link) Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz/ASUS P5Q Pro - $375 (Link) Thoughts on which combo is better bang for the buck or just better overall? This will be paired in my system with a Sapphire HD 4870 512MB GPU. Thanks! As far as gaming performance goes, those two processors will probably put out equal numbers. I personally would go for the AMD combo. Use the extra 70 to save up for a second 4870. | Report abuse t85us March 13, 2009 6:02:44 AM +1 for AMD | Report abuse Jpain March 13, 2009 2:36:57 PM Hello 1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?Ite... That is a good combo for someone on a tighter budget. | Report abuse bmuell March 13, 2009 9:16:20 PM 940 Deneb is $20 cheaper as of today, too. Clear winner. | Report abuse Jpain March 14, 2009 3:33:13 PM Hello 1. OK, X4 940 is the best, BUT is it smart to pay that extra for little advance... since X3 OC is preaty goot with games... X3 720 BE is cooler and clocks a bit better. 2.
