Does anybody else keep getting the same problem as me. I'm in the middle of
a game and all of a sudden the game crashes and the error message says 'the
application has crashed, the application will now terminate'? It's really
annoying me as I keep having to save my game every couple of minutes. I
don't want to go out and buy University in case it does it even worse on
that .

What's your configuration - graphic card, RAM, and so on?

Hi,

It's a Pentium 4 1.8GHz, 768MB RAM, nVidia Ge-Force MX440.

Thanks.

Just to add, I am using the most up-to-date drivers for all my hardware.
Having tried that, it's still randomly crashing without any notice and
giving me the message above. I close all background applications down
before running it as the sims2 site suggests, but still no joy.

Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Do you have one RAM thingie or two combined? because I had 768 (one 256,
one 512) for a while too but Sims crashed all the time, so I took one out
and since then it's stable.

I can see what you're getting at here. I use Crucial memory, one 512 and
one 256. I once tried upgrading and stupidly bought a different make and
that crashed my games. I then spoke to Crucial and bought the same model
that would be compatible with my existing RAM module. All other games work
perfectly with it, so I'm sure it's not that.

According to a friend, if one has two RAM-bits they should be identical -
same brand, same size, everything, because otherwise if large chunks of RAM
are used by the same program it can lead to crashes. I only had the RAM
problem with Sims2 because it seems to rely heavily on RAM.
You could try out by removing one RAM for a while and play, and if Sims2
still crashes you know that's not it ;)
