Hi everyone. Okay here is what happened I hope someone can help me out. I shut my computer down in Windows at night and in the morning when I pressed the power button all the fans came on but it won't boot. It just hangs at the screen with the bios version.
I have a XFX 680i lt mobo, and intel e2180 cpu, xfx 9600gso videocard 4gigs of ocz ram and a 500watt ps. Everything was running great that day and shut down normal but now it won't start up. I tried clearing the cmos and changing video cards. I also removed on stick of ram and tried it on all slots but no help. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

dont even waste your time. just flash the bios with the latest version from xfx (you have to register with them at xfxforce.com and they will tell you which on to flash to.
the 680i board have problems with bios out of the box anyway.

I have already flashed the bios to the newest version from xfx. But it won't even get to the point in the boot cycle to read from the cd rom to flash it. As for what part of the bios does it hang on I'm not sure how to answer that except to say right in the beginning. It shows the the bios version and who makes it. It hangs at the spot where normally it would run the memory test then start checking the boot devices. I hope this helps. I can post more about what the screen says when I get home. Oh yeah no there are no beeps or anything it starts normal it just doesn't boot.

Prolly not your cpu. However it could be ram or video or a disc...If you are unable to even get into bios, a simple thing to check is try to boot with one stick of ram, then check the other stick.

It kinda sounds like a ram hang to me.

Can you try swapping out the PSU? Or at least make sure no power connections came loose by chance.
