hey folks ive just recently had a bit of cash come way (it was unexpected) and have decided to bung it on a new computer. however im having real trouble deciding what graphics card to get.

now im a nvidia guy through and through, i have always used them, i like their stablility and the driver support. but im not so narrow minded that i wont change to ati if the benefits weigh up. now for the cards

a gtx 260 (216 cores)

a gt 275

or go the full buck and get the gtx 285?

i want to eventually go down the sli route, say in 6 months as an upgrade. however i also want the cards to be as future proof as possible.

which brings me onto my next concern. ive heard all this stuff about dx 11. should i just get the cheaper 260 for now and then upgrade to a dx 11 card down the line?

finally, im planning to be playin all latest games such as far cry 2, crysis, l4d etc on resolutions of either 1920x1200 or 1920x1080 depending on what monitor i get.

your input will be much appreciated.

go with either the gtx 275 or a 4850x2 although the 275 is a bit better...but the 4850 is cheaper. i dont feel that the 285 is worth the extra money. the performance gap from a gtx 275 and a 285 isnt that big...save a few dollars and put it into a better cooler for the 275.

edit...just to give you an idea...i have a 23inch 1080p monitor and i play all my games at high settings at good framerates on my 8800gt at 1920x1080. so the 275 will be plenty.
