It'll work.

The only problem I see with it is that, it's new, yet it's already 2 generations outdated.

This is just my $.02:

1. Skip the Vista OEM license and save $180, download the Win7 64 RC. It's completely free, and does not expire until June 2010. I have both Vista 64 Ultimate and Win7 64 RC. I use the Win7 build more often than the Vista. I have not had any problems at all with Win7.

2. Add about $60 and get this CPU/Mobo PhenomII X2 550, Asus 770 motherboard combo : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Comb [...] mbo.200020

3. Split the rest of the $100 50/50 and upgrade your Monitor to a 22" HannsG $149 and your Video card to a HD4850, something like a XFX HD-485X 1gig

Save up now and by the time September hits you can buy OEM Win7 64 bit version. Or just use Win7 RC until it expires next year.

^+1. You beat me to it.

1. The PSU is low quality. Switch PSU to something like a 400CX.

2. Don't get the Ballistix. They are known to have quality/compatibility issues.

3. Try to swap out the Motherboard. The 60a ia an old chipset.

4. What is your MAX budget?

----------------
Imo if budget is very strict,

swap board to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 57&Tpk=G31
Gigabyte G31 $53
and CPU to http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819116069
E1400 $48
Get a good/decent (ie S964) HSF and OC it to 2.8-3Ghz and it will/should beat the AMD system (even when OCed)
