LCD????

Ive just lost my samsung 17" CRT Monitor and wanted to move to LCD..now have researched on LCDs but am not completely sure what to look for in some areas like contrast ratio and pixel pitch.was also wondering,for gaming purposes, is it worth it to go LCD?Also if you have any experiences with a certain LCD monitor please recommend..thanx
