I am about to build a new gaming system and a buddy turned me on to the GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard .

What would be the best processor for me on a budget of around $200?

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking for a budget of 300 for Mobo + CPU, I'd go for a Phenom II X4 955 + an AM3 mobo. LGA775 is soon to be a dead line.

Thanks for the reply. How do you mean the LGA775 is soon to be a dead line?

It's being discontinued. Intel is no longer developing new processors for socket LGA775. The reason for avoiding the LGA775 is because there is no upgrade path for that socket.

The new options are LGA 1366 (core i7) and soon LGA 1156 (core i5).

Or if you go AMD, go with AM3.
