I'm debating on whether waiting for the GTX 275 or just going with a 285. The 285's have come down quite a bit so I'm not really concerned with the price difference. But is it really worth it?

PRice wise, no its nto worth it. A 285, imo, does not provide enough of a boost over what (assuming the review cards are what are sold) is a very solid and easily overclocked card.

That being said, I have no idea when 275s will be around in north america, or even if there will be enough made for you to get a chance to grab one.

+1 on satisfaction with my 285 GTX but at 1920 x 1080 resolutions and below, the 275 GTX would provide a very similiar experience at a much better price.

GTX 275 all the way. If you already owned a GTX 285 prior to the release of the 4890/GTX 275 (like me), then you are in good shape. However given the current prices its clearly the GTX 275 thats the best buy out of the two.

II have a gtx 285(320 $ new)but I see a review between gtx 275 & gtx 285 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_4890/6.html In some games it seams gtx 275 win against gtx 285 !!! End it is at least 70-90 Usd cheaper, for start a gtx 275 is 250 USD !!!,what a great card single or in Sli, best card for the moneyhttp://img.tomshardware.com/forum/uk/icones/message/icon6.gif Because I prefer single card not 2 or 3, I acquire the GTX 285, 4 days ago. But I now that is overpriced, better for money is gtx 280!!!

6 months later:

Just a performance update; my EVGA GTX 275 is able to get an average of 58 FPS on Grand Theft Auto IV.

As far as Overclocking goes, I was shipped their 'superclocked version' and I achieved clocks of 713 Core, 1548 Shader, and 1242 Memory.

My single 275 at said clocks was able to achieve a score of ~5250 at 1280x1024, AA 0x, 60 sec, Full Screen in FurMark.

Now compare that to someone's Radeon HD 4870. (It scored 3500)

Are you guys insane or lost your minds!!!
do not buy gtx275 or gtx285
just get a 5850 and be happy with your framerates and dx11 games.

5850 is about %20faster then gtx275 and %10 faster then gtx285
