Remote Desktop gives Yellow/Gray Start Button

Hello,
When I run remote desktop from my XP workstation, the Start button has a yellow and gray flag instead of the four-color flag when in full-screen mode. If I click on the Start button, it shows the task bar from my desktop and I get this short, funky, text-mode popup menu which doesn't have a logoff feature. I have to Restore Down to get the regular Start button where I can logoff. I've deleted the default.rdp to no avail. Tried logging in from a different workstation and it is fine.

I'm having a hard time understanding parts of your problem, but are you sure you are using the same version of remote desktop on each machine? If so, go through all the options and make sure they are set the same.

I'll agree that it's a little difficult to conceptualize if you've never seen it. I have checked the configuration as well as have had my helpdesk guy check it.

Logging into Remote Desktop:

Normal: No Start button visible before and during login

Existing: Start button with yellow/gray flag appears in bottom left corner of screen when remote desktop login screen appears.

Yeah, that's odd. I can say that I've never run into that problem. Hopefully someone else here has an answer for you.

After I performed some updates, it went away and all is normal again.

Wow, that is odd. Were these windows updates, program updates, or hardware (video card) updates that fixed it?
