Microphone is not working, not mute, can hear people but they cannot hear me

Hello,
this is Namrata S. i use Dell Inspiron 1525. and my audio video connection is of SigmaTel. my inbuilt microphone has stopped working. i can hear the other person speak but she cannot hear my voice. Also my microphone is not on mute.
Could you help me find the solution please. will be grateful.

Try an external microphone.

Double-click sound icon in the system tray if it there...

Click "Options" then "Properties"

Click "Recording" and adjust Mic level up.

Click OK

Close Sound Mixer

Try Mic now.....

If the Sound Icon is NOT in the System Tray,

Click Start, Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices..

Click "Volume" tab,

Click "Advanced" and do as stated above.
