Which would be the better card.

GTX 280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6814130365

I want to play Crysis and GTA IV on a 1680x1050 resolution. Some benchmarks are showing the 4890 OC edition performs better and it also costs less. What do you guys think?

System Specs:

Case: Dell Vostro 200 case(getting thermaltake v9 black edition in about a month)

GTX280 still performs better.

4890 falls between the GTX260 and GTX280 from what I've heard.

4890 is more bang for your buck. It comes down to what you're willing to spend.

Dollar for Dollar ATi makes the better card in my opinion at the moment, thou the nVidia still gives higher fps but slightly.

the 4890 overclocked is faster than the 280 got one myself and it rocks

GTX280 will preform better in games where as other people have stated the 4890 will be more cheaper wise, the ATi is like a allrounder but the Nvidia is mostly a gaming style card.

I'd got with the 4890. Overclocking has shown it competes with the GTX 285 which is a bit faster than the 280. Plus it is cheaper.

Can't really complain about that combination.

4890 is the way to go it performs slightly less then the gtx280 for alot less money and can catch up by overclocking
I suggest you get the cheaper reference version and overclock it yourself.
