Has anyone else noticed sounds going missing? I have an Audigy Platinum Pro
card with fully updated drivers. Every so often, I notice sounds are
missing - the most obvious is with instruments, e.g. Serena was just playing
the piano, the sound lasted for about 30 seconds then went totally silent.
The other thing I have notice is that, when the cheat bar is activated, and
a cheat typed in, there is all sorts of errors shown, an example of which is
below: -

ERROR TSAudio: Failed to GetSoundDefinition for sound(0x5514f940ffc52f1b)

..\source\TSAudioSoundInstance.cpp(211)

ERROR TSAudio: Failed to initialize sound(0xf89c2cedffcc89f2)

Is this a game issue, an issue with my card, or what? Anyone any clues? The
most obvious (which I believe pertains to the piano - but it isn't just the
piano, I've noticed it with the guitar, bass and the drum kit - all lose
sound after 30 seconds or so) is this

"ERROR TSAudio: Object(Counter - Industrial) Modifier(destsurface) String
does not exist. Event(obj_get)
..\source\TSAudioEventModifierPrimitives.cpp(699)
ERROR TSAudio: Failed to GetSoundDefinition for sound(0xf89c2cedffcc89f2)
instance(c0daebd0)
..\source\TSAudioSoundInstance.cpp(211)"

Anyone else having sound issues?

As I stated my card driver is up to date and TS2 is fully patched and
updated. Uni was a clean installation. This is not an issue with 3rd-party
objects, it happened prior to any being installed as well.

Yes, everyone gets those. It's not really a cheat bar, it's for
debuging that Maxis happened to let stay in. So you get debuging
messages

Thanks, Jeremy - doesn't really help with me sound issues, but at least I
know I don't have to worry about that.

I emailed EA re sound problems. The first line of my email was "All my
drivers, including my sound card, are fully updated and DX9 certified" So
then I get a reply from a guy called Anthony at EA TS which began "Please
update your sound card drivers..."

AARRGGHH!! I don't know why I bother... What's the point of have TS if they
don't bother to read the issue properly?

I purchased an extended warranty that still has a year to go before it runs
out, so I still use them. It takes some doing, getting through all the
foreign techs. I once spent nearly 8 hours on the phone with two techs
trying to solve the problems that ensued after I'd downloaded the SP2 for
XP. Over the past three years, I've had two new monitors, a new
motherboard, a new video card, two ethernet cards, and a new hard drive.
They've practically replaced the entire computer because of failures in the
original equipment. So the warranty was a good idea for this particular
Dimension 8200. <g>

My next computer will be custom built for me by someone local, I think. LOL
