I'm in the process of building my fiirst gaming rig, and I was wondering what are the Pros and Cons of getting a factory oc'd gpu?

Thanks

pros:
-The run slightly faster (maybe 3-15% faster, but those numbers all depend on the card, OC, etc)
-They should have more overclocking headroom

Cons:
-They cost more
-Often times you can buy a stock card and overclock it yourself to the same speeds

Other potential cons:
- They may run hotter
- They may be louder

Some highly overclocked version are "golden samples" top overclockers of the bunch, but i would save the extra cash and just overclock it myself.

I generally agree with invisik, but I usually opt for the OC'd version if it is only SLIGHTLY more expensive, like $10, and the budget is not too tight.

I agree with this. For instance if some of these new 4890s OC'd, if the price was within 10-15$ I'd be willing to go that route. Generally I don't buy OC'd cards if the price premium is too much. Most cards have some OC headroom that you can take advantage of yourself.
