hi there, i am finally ready to give up. when i first built my pc, everything worked great then i upgraded to vista.... basically i cannot get my sound to work properly, its there just really quiet. ive tried old and new drivers. i even tried going back to xp but no luck. does any body have any suggestions? im now on windows 7 rc but still no help...

No it still isnt working unfortunatly.. i also forgot to mention that my front panel audio recognises that headphones have been inserted but no sound at all plays..

i Just did a little experiment as i found an old sound card hidden away. installed it and it works... the sound card is about 5 years old! so i cannot understand the issue with on board sound?

That is strange. I assume that HD Audio Controller is enabled in the BIOS?

Yea that was the first thing i tried... like i said though the sound is working its just really quiet?
