I upgraded an older Dell Dimension 3000 today with some new RAM (1gb stick). The Max speed that Dell said it could use is 400MHz, so that is what I got, its PC3200. Anyway, the computer had 1 stick of 256 MB in it already. So I just added the new stick with the old stick, for 1.25 GB of RAM.

However, the old stick was 333 MHz, so the new (400) stick is now running at the 333 cap.

I was curious, is it better to run 1gb at 400 or 1.25gb at 333?

Thanks in advance for you help.

uh, either one of those are really really low ram capacity, and i would probably say the 1 gb at 400, but dont you need like 0.5 gb already to run windows??

Yeah, it was obsurd, but i can't only hold a max of 2gb, PC3200 at 400Hz, at least as far as I can tell from the Dell website. It's my Brother-in-law's computer, so I was just working on it yesterday. Cleaning all the crap he has downloaded and such. But I knew bumping the RAM would help a lot.

Bump...was looking for a more solid answer. This was "probably."

Thanks
