I bought a Gateway FX 6800-01e in February (don't ask why I didn't build my own) and since then have been researching my specifications to decide which components to upgrade in the future. So here's the question. I have a PCI x16 slot, but is it 2.0? How do I find out? Your help would be appreciated. By the way, Gateway's web site doesn't give much info, and there isn't much info on the mobo. Would CPU-z reveal the answer to my question?

As long as the slot is listed as PCI-E x16, you don't have to worry about whether it is x.0/1 or not.

Current video cards are only being bottlenecked on PCI-E x 4 2.0 slots (or, PCI-E x 8 1.x slots).

Any PCI-E x16 slot works well enough for now.

Sounds great. Hope I won't need a PCI x16 2.0 slot in the next few years with this mobo then.
