I just built a new e8400 rig and got everything to install and boot up just fine, but for some reason when the system details show my cpu is running at 3.00, 2.67; not 3.00, 3.00.
I'm not doing any OC'ing and my understanding is that windows should show the max speeds of the processors. Could it be a bad core? Any guidence would be greatly appreciated!
I disabled it and now windows is reading it at 3.0, 3.0, but the part that is confusing for me is that according to other posts (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/250032-28-e8400-core-speed) windows system properties should list the maximum speed, not the one based on EIST. Any idea what's going on here? Also - is there any downside to disabling EIST (other than increased power consumption)?
I think all EIST does is lower the core speed therefore resulting in saving energy and power. It should go back to stock once something 3D or CPU intensive starts.
