i am new to Overclocking i know the basics watched vidos and read some older articles about it, but all i ever hear about is Overclocking CPU's my questtion to you is what in this system would you OC.

KINGWIN Lazer LZ-1000 1000W Modular
Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz
ASUS ENGTX480/2DI/1536MD5 GeForce GTX 480 (Fermi) 1536MB X2
ASUS P6X58D-E LGA 1366 Intel X58
CORSAIR XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB) ddr3 1600 pc3 12800 X2

what from the above besides CPU should i OC. i like the system and havent even built it yet, the hardware is being shipped right now. (i have all the cooling and case ect. above is just internals.)

this is for a gaming PC, i would like the OC's to be decent...enough that they will handle nearly anything i throw at it.

The component that you would OC is the CPU (i7-950) - get a good heatsink cooler and assemble the system. After it is running stable to your satisfaction, start OCing the CPU in small steps. Details are available in the OC section of this site.

I always overclock the CPU, sometimes memory, and never the GPU.

Sometimes memory because that depends on the system. Core2 systems, for example, do not really benefit from overclocking memory so I do not bother. I think the GPU runs hot enough already, so I never overclock GPU's.
