i have 4 gigs of ram, 1tb hdd, 9600gt oc'd, purepower 500 thermal take powersupply, and modded a case fan on the side and front. right now my processor is amd athlon 64 x2 4000+. can i get the 89watt 6000+ and run it with my current heatsink and fan rated at 65watts? using artic silver 5. if not ill have to get 5600+ which is 65watts, will stock heatsink/fan work ok for the 5600+?

Check the "cpu support" section of your motherboard manufacturer's website. It should give you a bios version for the new cpu. The stock heatsink should work fine unless you're doing extreme overclocking. If you have a compaq or dell pc, then the new cpu may not work. It's difficult sometimes to get dell or compaq to answer questions about a cpu upgrade.
